love your heart out

It really is the most wonderful time of the year, isn't it?

My love and I hosted Thanksgiving this year in our new (to us) home. My heart filled with so much joy as our family filled the cozy spaces.
Mama stayed overnight so she could help/guide me and it was so wonderful to wake in the early hours of the morning and begin preparing for the feast. The twinkle lights, the coffee, the togetherness, the quiet. It was wonderful.

We discovered that on our quiet dead end road, there's a U-cut tree farm (!!). The day after Thanksgiving, in the pouring down rain, we searched for our perfect Christmas tree. I do think it will become a treasured tradition.
 ***
I felt so much love + support from you all during my big holiday art sale! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. <3 I love turning up the music, sipping on something delicious, and packaging each of your orders with love.

My love was able to make it to his first ever doctors appointment with me, and when he heard our baby's heart beating I watched him fall in love. I'm holding that moment close. In just a few weeks we find out what we're having! (I'm totally feeling girl vibes, but we will see!).

Oh, friends.
I've been having such fun in my studio these past few days with the most amazing hand carved stamps - designed by the incredible Rae Missigman.





True to my nature, I couldn't wait to incorporate these stamps into my artwork. They add so much delicious texture, not to mention beautiful imagery!



Oh, but my head was spinning with so many ideas for these babies!

enjoy the journey

Every year, my love and I make a little date out of adventuring to the pumpkin patch. If I could visit all the pumpkin patches, I would be one happy girl! It's one of my very favorite traditions. This year's date is one I will always treasure.
We had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and played in the autumn sunshine and talked about how our lives will change so much in 6 short months.
We talked of hopes and dreams for our growing family and about how we would try to savor these last months of quiet;).
It's so easy to rush (in your mind) to 'the next big thing' (aka meeting our child!), and we are determined to enjoy this journey and this current season of life.

season of change + a little baby bump!

My dear friends, oh how I've missed you!
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of change and I'm so thrilled to share with you that we finally (finally!) have moved into our very own home. It's nestled in the forest, on the lake, just a few short miles from the ocean. We're still hanging art and twinkle lights and finding homes for belongings that have been packed away for the past four months, but we are living and loving here and I can tell we've found a magical spot.
If you look closely you can see our house peeking through the trees! Our front door is now turquoise (of course!) and surrounded by pumpkins...an updated photo soon! We have big plans for the exterior of this baby one day...I've been sketching and dreaming and color scheming like crazy. It's so fun to dream. The upstairs room you can see here is slowly becoming my art studio. It's the biggest, most light-filled space I've ever had, and I am so excited to start creating again soon. But even more exciting than the house... Friends, we are witnessing a miracle. Karl and I will be welcoming a new little person into the world this May! I'm almost 12 weeks pregnant and so full of love and joy. Here's our little pumpkin! This was taken at just over 9 weeks. I can't wait to see how much bigger she's gotten since then. (I have a feeling she's a girl!)

autumn heart

My autumn heart is filled with so much happiness because September is finally here!

Yesterday, we watched the first of the falling leaves dance in the wind, savored the crisp morning air, watered the pumpkins, and in the afternoon I snuck away for a bit of painting.

 Counting so many blessings.

wildflowers and joy

Dear friends,

This week I said goodbye to 26 and welcomed 27 by celebrating in my favorite way: delighting in everyday, ordinary magic.
There were iced coffees, reading on the dock, watering the garden, finding a new favorite restaurant, holding hands, + sharing dreams.  And of course, a little time for painting! 

I'm so excited for all of the goodness to come in this new year.

all of life is a gift.

it's my last day of 26 today!
as you might have guessed, i'm on a mission to savor each moment.

the arrival of august always sends a rush of happy through my veins. late summer + autumn, you will always have my heart. 

i've been carrying a little journal with me the last few days, and it is quickly filling up
with all of the things that make my heart happy.

midnight thunder + lighting
a feeling in the air of autumn on the way
laundry drying in the sunshine
the sound of the sprinkler watering mama's garden
sweet smell of blackberries drifting in the warm breeze
watching the hummingbirds chatter and play and drink from our plants
campfire lingering on clothes
painting outdoors
moonlit walks in the forest

i'm realizing more than ever, this truth:
with a grateful heart, all of life is a gift. <3

Blue Mountains

My love and I spent the last three glorious days taking in as much of the Blue Mountains as we possibly could. Oh, the wildflowers, sunsets, and forests! Some of the prettiest I've ever seen.

Eastern Oregon is a 6 hour journey from home, and each minute in the car together felt like heaven. We listened to our favorite music, stocked up on delicious snacks, held hands, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It was the perfect beginning to our long weekend adventure. <3

We slept beneath the stars and listened to the wind howl at night, and were greeted early in the morning by deer and elk coming to drink from the small pond nearby.

We roamed the wild and untamed forests. He found a giant hawk feather and I picked a bouquet of wildflowers.

 
It was the kind of trip you wish would never end.
